We email this out, but in case we missed you... here you go!!
Dear Friends and Family,
Happy New Year! We
welcome 2012 with open arms and just hope it’s as great as 2011! In 2010 we bought a new house, remodeled
lots, started a new job and were busy, so in 2011 we played a lot. We got to spend time with so many family and
friends this year as we bounced all over the place (sometimes without Dad) to
the beach, the mountains, camping, Lake Powell, DisneyLand, weddings, etc. Dad’s great vacation time may have made up
for how much we missed him during his busy season!! Aaron and Britt even got to go backpack
Coyote Gulch and do an 8 day Western Caribbean cruise by ourselves! Here’s a
quick flashback of our year.
Aaron – worked 80
hours most weeks until he passed the CPA exam in September!!!, sacrificed any
free time he would have had to spend with his kids, spent 5 months out of town,
but probably got enough sushi while he was there to satisfy his hunger, worked
in Teacher’s then Deacon’s quorum, bought a minivan for his spoiled wife, road
and mountain biked, planted our first garden, told bedtime stories, brushed
teeth and hair way softer than mom (just ask Emery).
Britt – played
lots of mommy teacher, painted furniture, blogged, served as the Relief Society
Secretary, had her 1st real girls weekend, pretended to be a wedding
photographer, found her name in the acknowledgements of a book she helped edit
as a research assistant at BYU – and felt really cool and famous, book clubed,
kissed boo boos, did crafts, read stories, rode bikes, created adventures and
tickled, pinched and giggled more than should be legal.
Emery (4) – never
stopped talking, became a Sunbeam, says her eyes tell her stories when she
sleeps, made an inseparable best friend, found a love for all things climbing –
rocks, climbing shoes, harness, learned to swim without floaties, spent 75% of
the year dressed as a princess, learned to love snuggling, is learning to read,
became very concerned about gender, loves pink and purple, loves fruits and
veggies, has a super-sniffer, is learning to share and listen like a big girl,
dances, head stands and does yoga like a pro, promises often she’ll still love
the 3 of us as she gets big.
Van (2) – wild
and physically aggressive, adores trucks, tractors, buses, 4 wheelers,
motorcycles and his friends the garbage men, loves broccoli, treats, every food
he’s allergic to, scissors, “Hog” (his frog), water in any form, especially
swimming, knows his ABCs, still eats the biggest bowl of oatmeal in our family
(plus 2 bananas), bikes circles around his big sister, can and does climb
everything, calls himself “Dan”, despises his head getting bonked, when mom
locks the fridge and when we stifle his independence.
We hope you have a great 2012 and look forward to seeing so
many of you this year!
Love,
Aaron, Britt, Emery, Van and Baby Wilkinson (Due June
2012)
