Preparing for Baby

So Aaron and I started the real, intense baby preparation last weekend. We were supposed to have a 6 hour prenatal class that covered everything from labor signs, to breathing techniques to breastfeeding. Unfortunately the instructor got a bad case of the flu, so Aaron and I will go into labor and delivery only slightly more educated than we are now (I'll be gathering LOTS of advice from experienced moms in the next 5 weeks). Women delivered babies for 1000s of years without birthing classes - I can do it too! :)

So, since Aaron had set the day aside for baby preparation he neglected homework as planned and helped me reorganize our room to get ready for Baby. We have really maximized our tiny space... the floor-to-ceiling drawers below illustrate our creativity.

We've discovered that we aren't the best picture-takers, so Aaron has been getting frustrated that he doesn't have any pictures of his pregnant wife. The photos below part of his resultant explosion of photo-taking. If you'd rather not see my large exposed belly I'd suggest skipping these or at least not clicking to enlarge them! :) These lovely post-work out shots also illustrate what my shirt often looks like after eating these days... messy! Either I'm getting more wreckless and spacey or my belly is really getting in the way.

We miss you guys and we love the pics! What a hot mama! Brady feciciously voted for no epidural but I made him change it, because really it is so awesome when you feel like you are going to puke/pass out and all of a sudden you can relax a little. Our # is 801-376-1153. Call us. Sorry for not calling. We lost your number too. Enjoy your last month. Good luck!-Dani

Looks like you guys got a lot done this weekend. I love those productive weekends...they feel so good. Our weekend was somewhat less productive but still fun. We missed you at Thanksgiving though. I can't believe its only one more month til you guys are parents. Love the belly pics and the organization. Can't wait to come see you and your little family and home.

You are the most beautiful little pregnant woman I have ever seen :) We're so excited for little to have a little gal pal upstairs! Let us know if you need anything... anything! Those last few weeks are super anxiety-ridden, so I am mostly thinking some girl dates during the "not working, no baby" period :)

My votes goes strongly against the epidural. Every time I have had a baby, I have gone all natural, and have loved every moment of it.

Instead of drugs, I took large doses of GoYin and utilized hypnobirthing. I would not recommend anything different.

We shall see you this Sunday, and dont forget the salted ham.

Oh, and as far as your epidural question goes: I hear that it is amazing to go without one... "the biggest adrenaline rush of your life", as my mother-in-law says. I tried and made it about six hours, and it was the most painful thing that I have ever experienced. I caved and got the epidural and was in absolute heaven after that. Labor was SO SO SO easy. I'm disappointed in myself for not making it, but labor was such a pleasant experience with one... I think that I will always have one now... maybe... I would like to try natural again... maybe...

I also tried to go without the epideral and had even taken Lamaze (though I was not the most dedicated of students). But then after I got the epidural I was able to relax and labor went more quickly. I echo what Amy said. I was kind of disappointed that I couldn't go all the way without getting one, but maybe I'll try it again next time...who knows! We miss you guys and love the pictures. Hope everything goes well the last 4 weeks.

You really do have the most beautiful prego belly I've ever seen! About the epidural... I had one both times, and actually had an epidural/spinal combo so I was completely numb and couldn't move my legs the second time, but I was still able to push easily. They really do make the whole labor and delivery a much more pleasant experience for you (and anyone around you). Although, I'm considering going natural with the next one and doing some hypnobirthing techniques, but it's something to start preparing for way before you give birth. Unless you've already practiced breathing and relaxation techniques, I don't think less than a month is enough time to prepare yourself for a natural childbirth. But I don't know how you deal with pain and such, so if you think you can do it, go for it!
